The direction of insurance companies

The writing is on the wall – insurance benefits are being reduced, some companies are requiring pre-authorization of care with no regard for the patient who paid for expected services – your care is being determined not by the doctor, but by the insurance company. Deductibles are increasing, copays and coinsurance are increasing and benefits are reducing.

Will you take care of yourself outside of insurance or let the insurance companies decide what care you get? Our system is sick and ailing and seems to only care if you are in an acute crisis. What ever happened to prevention?

Do you pay for maintenance on your car (oil change, tires, etc) or does your car insurance pay for it? Why is your health any different?
