President, Atlas Family Chiropractic PS
Darryl Roundy D.C., B.C.A.O., F.I.C.P.A., C.C.E.P.
I was originally planning on becoming a dentist and was completing my college prerequisites when I was injured in two rear-end motor vehicle accidents within two days. I experienced significant, constant pain for the first time in my life, and no one could provide relief or answers despite receiving medical care and physical therapy.
After five months of suffering, someone suggested I see their Doctor of Chiropractic, and I decided to give it a try.
After my third adjustment, I was so impressed that I sent off my enrollment application to Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa. The care I received was exceptional, and I was educated throughout the entire process, with my injuries explained in a straightforward and sensible manner. Previously, I had been told that "nothing was wrong with me" and that I just needed pain medication, which didn't make sense to me.
It still amazes me how many patients are told that "nothing is wrong with them" or "it's all in your head." If you've never received a gentle and specific chiropractic adjustment, you're in for a pleasant surprise! Imagine functioning at your highest potential with an unhindered nerve system, allowing your body to function as it is intended. Optimum health can only manifest when your body operates without nerve interference. All things being equal, someone with nerve interference cannot be as healthy as someone without it.
If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me personally. I look forward to serving and assisting you on your quest for a healthier life.
Doctor of Chiropractic
Nicole Ruckman D.C.
Dr. Ruckman, formerly Dr. Long, was born in Davenport, Iowa while her father attended Palmer College of Chiropractic. She grew up in a small town in Missouri as one of seven children, living a chiropractic lifestyle that profoundly influenced her views on health and wellness.
Through this upbringing, she learned that true health comes from within and that everyone has the power to heal.
Dr. Ruckman completed her undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis before moving to Marietta, GA, to attend Life University, where she earned her chiropractic doctorate in September 1999. Since then, she has been practicing in the greater Tacoma area of Washington State, witnessing firsthand the transformative power of chiropractic adjustments.
In her practice, Dr. Ruckman incorporates gentle techniques such as Thompson drop, Activator, and Atlas Orthogonal to care for her patients. She is passionate about helping individuals and families achieve their health goals through proper alignment, home care, and nutrition. Chiropractic care benefits people of all ages, from newborn babies to the elderly.
If you have any questions about a family member's or your particular condition, please don't hesitate to contact her.
Doctor of Chiropractic
Michelle Shin D.C.
Dr. Shin originally planned to pursue a career in law, graduating from Boston University in 2016. Her path changed when her normally active grandfather suffered a stroke and became paralyzed from the neck down. This experience highlighted for her the importance of movement and the gift of having a healthy body.
Inspired to focus on neuromuscular bodywork and therapy, she abandoned her original plans.
Dr. Shin first experienced chiropractic care in North Carolina, where she was particularly impressed by the Atlas Orthogonal technique. Motivated by this discovery, she attended Life University in Georgia, graduating magna cum laude in September 2023. She then moved across the country to join the Atlas Family team.
Dr. Shin employs a variety of techniques, including Activator, Thompson, Atlas Orthogonal, and extremity adjustments. New to the Tacoma, WA area, she enjoys spending her free time exploring trails with her dog and discovering new foodie spots. If you have any recommendations, be sure to let her know!

Front Desk Superstar
Carrie
Carrie and Dr. Roundy officially met at the natural foods store where she worked for 5 years. She learned much in her experience there about how to live a healthy lifestyle and went on to be a massage therapist for 6-years.
When introduced to Atlas Orthogonal chiropractic care, it felt like it just made sense as a patient to round out her healthcare needs and to help her massage clients take care of their bodies as well.
Carrie and Dr. Roundy married in 1998 and have Emma (16) and Will (13), who attend school in Gig Harbor, but spent their earlier years at the Tacoma Waldorf School, which was a wonderfully well-rounded education and base for them to have a life-long interest in learning.
Carrie received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Whittier College in California.
Billing & Office Manager Extraordinaire
Kami
Kami was born and raised with her 9 brothers and sisters in Sonoma County, California. In 2002, she left sunny California in search of a change of pace. Prior to her working at Atlas Family Chiropractic, she had worked in many customer service settings and knew that her outgoing personality would take her wherever she wanted to go. As of 2003, she found Atlas Family Chiropractic and has not looked back; she has now found a home/family with the team and patients at AFC.
Over the years, she has learned a lot about Chiropractic care and the benefits of having her spine checked on a regular basis. She is a huge advocate of Chiropractic & wellness and will let everyone she knows or comes in contact with hear the benefits as well. In the office, she is a jack of all trades and is happy to help in any area that is needed, such as the front desk, scheduling, insurance and patient education/care. She loves to attend seminars and being around other people that are just as passionate about the profession as she is. She is always there to help any patient that comes in as well as her AFC family.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Tim and her 2 American Bullies (Kato and Macha). She serves on a board for a non-profit organization for sex-trafficked and trafficked humans where they can start to heal through art and nature therapy. She also hosts workshops teaching people how to connect with their source through the art of mala making. She loves SUNSHINE, music, astrology, the elements and how we are made up of all of them, nature, art, play, yoga, somatic healing modalities, fishing, foraging for mushrooms, making sourdough bread, baking and cooking!

Jasmine
Born in beautiful Georgia, Jasmine brings Southern hospitality and a love of food and gathering to the office. Before joining Atlas, she worked in the specialty coffee industry. After many years of competing and managing a specialty coffee shop, she decided she wanted a change of pace.
Coming from a farm-to-table mentality, she believes that spinal, gut, and mental health are essential for a healthy human. This belief led her to the field of chiropractic care, where she can help people achieve healthy lifestyles through chiropractic adjustments, laughter, and good old Southern charm.
